BPD Receives $100,000 Grant From Office of Traffic Safety

$

By Timothy Mably

The Burbank Police Department has received a $100,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to fund a year-long program intended to prevent road deaths and injuries by enforcing awareness and educating the public.

The grant will contribute to presentations on traffic safety, DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols, bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement, motorcycle safety enforcement, distracted driving enforcement, and seatbelt and child safety seat enforcement.

“This grant supports our mission to continue educating the public through various enforcement campaigns throughout the year in order to reduce the number of injuries and deaths attributed to traffic collisions and unsafe driving habits,” said Chief of Police, Scott LaChasse.

Following a decade long low in 2010, the amount of people killed in car accidents has grown to 17% across the country. In 2015, there was a record total of 3,429 fatalities from traffic related incidents. Almost a quarter of fatalities involved pedestrians and bicyclists.

According to OTS Director Rhonda Craft, unsafe behavior causes about 94% of accidents, whether it is the result of texting or the influence of drugs.

“While alcohol remains the worst offender for DUI crashes, the Burbank Police Department supports the new effort from OTS which aims to drive awareness that ‘DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze,’” said Sgt. Derek Green in a press release. “Prescription medications and marijuana can also be impairing by themselves, or in combination with alcohol, and can result in a DUI arrest.”

This grant comes after an elderly man was struck and killed while crossing the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Lincoln Street at the beginning of the month. A Disney employee was also killed by an inattentive driver while crossing Alameda Avenue and Lincoln in September.

Funding for the program comes from OTS through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

With a new influx of multi-use buildings heading to Burbank, one that is making a splash is the Olive Station development. The site of the future building can be located at the southeast intersection of Olive Boulevard and Lake Avenue. The land is currently owned by the Cusumano Real Estate Group.

In total, the building will feature 327 studios, one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom, and four-bedroom apartments. The variety in apartments is meant to provide options in affordable housing to Burbank residents. Hired to design the building will be the award-winning architectural firm Newman Garrison + Partners.

When asked why the Cusumano Real Estate Group when with Newman Garrison + Partners, Michael Cusumano said:

“We conducted an exhaustive search of all of the best design firms in this region, and went as far as to engage five different firms to produce concept drawings for the site, before finally selecting the firm of Newman-Garrison (NG+P) to design the project. And NG+P hit it out of the park. As is evidenced by the design submitted, and their plethora of design awards, Newman-Garrison will bring a new, cutting edge design to Burbank, and set the standard for all future mixed-use projects in the City. (NG+P) has completed projects in Spain, India, Russia, and in the Caribbean, as well as California, where they have designed some of the most recognizable southern California buildings in recent years such as West Park at Civita, The Ellington, The Q East, and the Dylan.

Olive Station will be an architectural landmark as well as a really fantastic place to live. Our team also includes such acclaimed firms as EPT Design (landscape architecture), KGM Architectural Lighting, and John Labib + Associates (structural and civil engineering).”

The goal of this building is to offer a choice to millennials and families alike. Cusumano hopes potential residents will take notice to Olive Stations’ location, amenities, design, sustainability, lifestyle, Affordability.”

To entice potential residents, plans for the building also include a an array of common spaces, which include a game room, a bocce ball course, a resort-style pool and spa with cabanas, outdoor dining/BBQ areas, fire pits, retail stores, an outdoor movie theatre, a media center, terrace amenities, a club/lounge area with a private wine room, and a state-of-art fitness center. Located at the ground floor will be a commercial grocery store.

When asked how Olive Stations plans to combat the affordable housing problem in Burbank, Cusuamano said; “First of all, no one has ever built “live-work” loft units in Burbank, and there are almost no 3 and 4-bedroom units in Burbank. No one has ever built this type of a project in Burbank. The Co-Work spaces will also appeal to millennials as well. And this will be the first project in many years where the Developer is including rent restricted affordable units. And great access to employment, Downtown Burbank and Metrolink station. Families, millennials, boomers; everyone will be attracted to this project.”

“Choose Love Over Hate” Vandal Chooses Hate

On the evening of Tuesday, November 7, Burbank resident Christy Xandrick and her daughter drove down Chandler Blvd. when they witnessed a vandal cutting down a banner outside a house at 904 N. Keystone St. which read, “Choose Love Over Hate.”

An uproar followed on Twitter after Xandrick shared her experience with the community. Residents were confused and upset that someone would cut down a sign simply proclaiming that love is stronger than hate, a message especially relevant in a time of constant controversy.

“I was in the passenger seat and we came to a stop on the corner of Chandler and Keystone and I saw a woman with a huge pair of scissors cutting down the sign!” said Xandrick. “My daughter started to drive and I told her about the woman and she literally flipped a u-turn right in the middle of the street and went back.”

Spotting the 60-some-year-old woman walking down Keystone St. toward Burbank Blvd., Xandrick and her daughter pulled up next to the vandal, who was wearing a grey t-shirt, blue sweatpants, and a white cap.

“…I asked, ‘Did you just cut down that sign?’ She had rolled up the sign and shoved it in her shirt! She gave me a dirty look and kept walking.”

Located directly across the street from Edison Elementary School, the banner has been promoting the message of “love over hate” since early this year. It is unclear why the vandal, who remains unknown, wanted to take it down. Some wondered if results from the election earlier that evening pushed her to choose hate.

(Photo by © Ross A Benson)

Shortly after the sign was removed, homemade signs from residents were put up in its place, proving vandalism can’t vanquish love for long.

Upon reading Xandrick’s tweets, the banner’s creator, Tonya Kane, was notified of the incident and put up a new version of the “Choose Love Over Hate” sign the following Friday.

Holiday In The Park Draws Record Crowds

Magnolia Park’s annual Holiday in the Park event drew record numbers of people to the eclectic Burbank shopping district on Friday evening, November 17. Approximately 22,000 people attended the event showcasing local music, arts and crafts, services and shops.

“On behalf of the Holiday in the Park committee, we are overjoyed and overwhelmed by the amount of love and support the community has shown us by attending the event,” commented committee member Ashley Erikson.

“Everyone involved from the the entertainment, to the stores, to the exhibitors that filled the streets, to every single attendee, did a phenomenal job creating such a fun and interactive event that people of all ages could enjoy.”

A cappella vocal groups from John Burroughs High School and David Star Jordan Middle School performed at the event, along with cheer teams from Jordan and Luther Burbank Middle Schools. Live DJs, along with small acoustic and electric bands and ensembles livened up the scene along the nine block stretch.

Two performance stages at Bank of America and Worship Walk Church showcased musical and gymnastics groups.

Santa and Mrs. Claus posed for photos with children and families at the UMe Credit Union and free candy apples were handed out to those in line.

A snow play area, a bubble party, face painting and games entertained visitors. Vehicles from SRT and Burbank Fire and Police departments, along with classic cars, were parked throughout the event.

holiday in the park

“For the committee, putting Holiday in the Park together is an act of love- not just for Magnolia Park but for the entire Burbank community, and we hope we conveyed that in our efforts.”

Erikson noted Burbank officials estimated the number of attendees for the 2017 event at 22,000 – which was 7,000 more than the estimated attendance at the 2016 Holiday in the Park.

“The committee is already hard at work analyzing the event and what we can do better for next year, seeing as 2018 will be the event’s 30th anniversary,” added Erikson.

Holiday in the Park is funded through donations from individuals, businesses and stores in the Magnolia Park area.

The Holiday in the Park committee is accepting donations online to help fund the 2018 Holiday in the Park here. Closing down Magnolia Boulevard is costly for the committee, but much safer than trying to contain the event to the sidewalks of Magnolia Boulevard.

More information on the Holiday in the Park event can be found on their website.

Hollywood Burbank Airport Offers Holiday Travel Tips

Thanksgiving week kicks off the winter holiday travel season, and passengers traveling through Hollywood Burbank Airport between Monday, November 20, and Monday, November 27, will experience higher-than-normal passenger traffic. We expect upwards of 125,000 travelers that will pass through the Airport during this eight-day Thanksgiving holiday travel period. The busiest travel days will be Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving. If you’re still looking to book your trip, the slowest travel days are Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.

For questions about flight schedules and routes, including procedures for unaccompanied minors, the airlines will have the most up-to-date information. The Airport’s website, www.hollywoodburbankairport.com offers a flight tracker; however, the Airport advises passengers to check their flight status with their airline before arriving at the Airport.

Passengers are encouraged to arrive at the Airport between 60 and 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure time in order to find parking, check luggage and go through the security checkpoint to ensure that they are at the gate in time for their flight.

The Transportation Security Administration website answers frequently asked questions, details procedures for screening, and provides guidelines for what can and cannot be taken through the security checkpoint, especially when transporting gifts in carry-on bags.

Hollywood Burbank Airport offers a variety of parking options:

  • At $24 per day, Valet Parking is conveniently located across from the terminal building. Electric vehicle charging stations and a full-service car wash are also available to Valet Parking customers for an additional charge.
  • Economy Lots A and C, respectively priced at $10 per day and $12 per day, are located within a quarter-mile of the terminal building. Free, round-the-clock shuttle service is offered between Economy Lots A and C and the terminal. Between the hours of 4 a.m. and 12 a.m. midnight, this shuttle service operates approximately every 10 minutes. Passengers who park in Lots A and C between the decreased-frequency hours of midnight and 4 a.m. can call (818) 565-1308 to request a pick-up. Lots A and C now offer a ticketless parking option for passengers who prefer not to keep track of a parking ticket.
  • Covered Lot G is within walking distance of the terminal building and is priced at $23 per day. Lot G also offers a ticketless parking option for passengers who prefer not to keep track of a parking ticket.
  • Economy Lot E is located adjacent to the Short Term Parking Structure, within walking distance of the terminal building, and is priced at $24 per day.
  • The Short Term Parking Structure is located across from the terminal building and is for customers who plan on accompanying passengers to the terminal or waiting to greet passengers at the baggage claim areas. Rates are $3 for the first 30 minutes, $5 for an hour and $32 per day.

The Airport’s Twitter feed provides up-to-date information about parking availability.

Since the previous holiday travel season, the Airport Authority has relocated the pick-up points for some ground transportation companies. Most notably, the Airport’s rideshare company pick-up point is now located at the ground transportation island closest to the Terminal B entrance. The Airport website provides additional information for rideshare drivers and passengers, including maps and instructional videos.

Non-commercial drivers who are dropping off or picking up passengers at the curb should drive forward to the curbside area near Terminal B, which typically has more space available for vehicles to pull up. Additionally, during peak travel times, the option to drop off passengers in Valet will be made available.

Drivers who plan to accompany a passenger to the security screening checkpoint or wait for a passenger at the baggage claim should park in the Short Term Parking Structure, located within walking distance of the terminals.

Passengers who would prefer not to drive to and from the Airport during the holiday season can take advantage of the Airport’s on-site transportation center, which offers connections to local bus and rail lines. Metrolink Ventura County Line train and Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner provide service to the Airport Train Station on Empire Avenue, and BurbankBus and Metro Bus both have bus stops on the ground level of the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC). BurbankBus’ route takes Airport passengers to the North Hollywood Station, where riders can connect with Metro Los Angeles Red Line train and the Pasadena Express Bus.

Airline schedules, airline websites, train and bus schedules, taxi/shuttle information, parking information and information for patrons with special needs are available on the Airport’s website, www.hollywoodburbankairport.com.

On November 20, the Salvation Army’s Burbank Corps continued their annual Christmas fundraiser known as the “Red Kettle Campaign,” which raises money for the poor and homeless, among others who are often neglected during the holiday season.

Red kettles have been placed in 13 locations throughout Burbank to collect donations until Christmas Eve when funds will be distributed. The kettles can be found outside all four Ralph’s, Vons on Pass Ave., Pavilions, Hobby Lobby, Handy Market, and inside the parking lot of Macy’s.

“The economy has made it a rough year for many families, and we’ve seen it firsthand in the numbers of people coming to us for help,” said Lt. Jeremy Baker.

(Photo by © Ross A Benson)

“It’s especially hard during the holiday season, with people losing their jobs, their homes and not knowing how they will provide for their families. That’s when The Salvation Army steps in to help. But to keep pace with the need, we must rely on generous people in our community to open their hearts with a donation to help their struggling neighbors.”

This year, the Red Kettle Campaign is centered around the theme, “I’ll Fight for Good,” highlighting the individual effort that goes into positively impacting the community.

The Salvation Army’s Burbank Corps anticipates raising $70,000 which will fund local programs and services, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for those who won’t be able to celebrate on their own. Other donations will fund the Burbank Corps’ after-school program which engages with local youth.

A press release from the Salvation Army suggests that those who are interested in volunteering this holiday season should visit burbank.salvationarmy.org or contact Lt. Brittany Baker at 818-845-7214.

The Burbank Police Department has earned re-accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), a highly valued recognition of public safety professional excellence. Achieving this accreditation requires voluntary compliance with hundreds of law enforcement standards established by CALEA® based on best practices.

“This re-accreditation reinforces our commitment to excellence, professionalism, and continued improvement,” said Burbank Police Chief Scott LaChasse. “We will continue to utilize both internal and external oversight to ensure we are meeting and exceeding industry standards and best practices.”

In July of 2017, the Burbank Police Department underwent an extensive on-site assessment and verification process to ensure the Department was meeting the Commission’s standards. As part of the process, a Public Information Session was held, providing the public with an opportunity to voice both praise and criticism, and to ask questions of the CALEA® assessors.

The Burbank Police Department was formally recognized and re-accredited in a ceremony held in Jacksonville, Florida on November 18, 2017. The Burbank Police also earned its second Accreditation for Advanced Law Enforcement by meeting additional criteria above and beyond those required for standard accreditation.

The Burbank Police Department has been recognized as a CALEA® accredited law enforcement agency since 2014. This latest accreditation is good for four years.

Over the weekend of November 17-19, the CTN Animation Expo arrived at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airpot hotel, located on Hollywood Way. The expo, which turned eight years old this year, celebrates the arts and industry professionals in both traditional and digital animation fields. CTN, which stands for the Creative Talent Network began in 2006 and aimed to bridge the art community with creative professionals.

The expo spanned the Marriott Convention Center, as well as a large tent that we set up in the Marriott’s parking lot. Before the Expo kicked off, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held with members of City Council, CTN Expo’s founder Tina Price, and a representative from the California Assembly. The ribbon cutting ceremony acted as a visual display of Burbank’s support for the creative arts here in the media capital of the world.

After the ceremony, the Expo opened its doors to thousands of anxiously waiting creative attendees. While the CTN Expo may sound like a great time to some, for others, this event also provided the opportunity to numerous impromptu job interviews in the creatives arts field.

The CTN Expo’s popularity has steadily been growing with each passing year. In its first opening in 2009, the Expo saw over 2,800 attendees. This year, the Expo was expected to attract more than 8,000 people from around the world.

The event had many special engagements, including:

  • Inspiring Kick-Off with Legendary Animator Glen Keane and Kobe Bryant.
  • Appearance by Pixar Animation Studios Director Pete Docter.
  • Internationally renowned artists Jordi Lafabre, Frank Pe and Tomer Hanuka.
  • Special mentions to the women of animation with Chiara Benedetti, Genevieve Godbout, Iris Campiet and Elle Michalka.
  • Animation Legends Aaron Blaise, Eric Goldberg, Andreas Deja and Burny Mattinson in attendance.
  • Creators from Blizzard Entertainment, Bluesky Studios, The Walt Disney Company, Reel FX, ILM, Nickelodeon, Pixar, Sony, and more.

Burbank Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Accident at First St. and Magnolia

Burbank’s Fire Department was dispatched at  8:06 pm to a reported traffic accident with possibly two or three cars involved with possibly people trapped. When the first rescue ambulance arrived on scene they reported a vehicle into a tree with the occupants trapped.  The engine arrived on scene and started checking the other cars for injuries.

While the first rescue ambulance was working on the occupants that struck the tree the incident commander had called for an additional ambulance and a physical rescue, using the jaws of life, to remove a person from the rear seat of one of the cars involved.

Burbank Police had closed westbound Magnolia at San Fernando to traffic while the Fire Department performed emergency treatment on the patients. The first rescue ambulance transported a patient to St. Joseph Medical Center where a female had expired upon arrival.

The occupants that were injured in the same car and the other patients required transport for non-life threatening injuries.

A Burbank Police Traffic Investigator was called to the scene to investigate the cause.

Witnesses at the scene said a yellow Volvo was northbound First Street at a rapid speed and turned eastbound Magnolia struck the center divider losing control and continued until it struck one car that was an Uber driver transporting a passenger, that car hit a car that was westbound.

Magnolia remained closed for several hours while measurements and details of the accident were recorded.

The identity of the female who died was not released until relatives could be notified. All the cars from the accident scene were towed and the westbound lanes were reopened close to 11 PM.

Burbank Police has asked if anyone witnessed the accident contact their Traffic Investigator at 818-238-3100.

Burbank Football Stopped Short of CIF Title Game

The effort that the Burbank High football team put up Friday night against host Don Lugo wasn’t the best of the season, but it certainly wasn’t anything to be ashamed of.

Attempting to get back into a CIF Southern Section championship game, the Bulldogs fell short as the host Conquistadores came up with a 28-7 Division 7 semifinal playoff victory in Chino.

“A lot of kids could have left and gone to another school. For them to stick around and trust in me that means the world to me,” first-year Burbank coach Adam Colman said. “I’m so proud of what they have accomplished this year. To come back from a team that went to the championship and set all these records and graduated all these guys, to tie that school wins record to win the first outright league title, all that they’ve accomplished I’m proud of that. It’s special.”

Burbank (10-3) played solid defense throughout much of the contest, against the team it defeated 41-14 in the CIF semifinals a year ago.

Don Lugo’s Khoury Bethley, a University of Hawaii commit, scored all four of his team’s touchdowns and remembered what it was like to lose to Burbank.

“They got us last and we wanted to get some payback and redemption,” Bethley said. “Jet sweep is their go-to play and we knew we had to shut that down. We didn’t do that last year so we had to change the game plan this year and we got the job done.”

Darnell Williams led Burbank with 60 yards in 15 carries in the final game of his three-year varsity career. Junior quarterback Matthew Porras rushed for 30 yards.

The Bulldogs’ lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Porras found junior flanker Chadz Vang on a 25-yard passing play. Porras finished with 102 yards passing.

Trailing 14-7, Burbank had a chance to tie the game on the last play of the first half as Porras threw a long pass that nearly connected with tight end Duncan Smith in the end zone.

Don Lugo coach Greg Gano, who has won four CIF titles as a coach, praised Burbank.

“They kicked the … out of us last year so we knew what we needed to do and we did it,” Gano said.

Don Lugo improves to 11-2 and will face El Modena of Orange for the CIF title.

BCR Holds its Annual Kickoff to the Holidays Show

On Wednesday evening, November 15th, BCR “a place to grow” held its annual kickoff to the holidays.

BCR “a place to grow” has been supporting the developmentally/intellectually disabled population for those in and around Burbank for over 50 years. This is the most favorite time of year for the clients of BCR “a place to grow” because they get to perform their holiday show, one that has taken weeks to prepare.

The show’s themes this year were BCR’s Holiday Spectacular with act 2 being BCR on Broadway!

They entertained a crowd of almost 400 and thoroughly enjoyed the spotlight while performing their songs and dances.

A presentation was made by Debra Callahan with a generous $1000 donation to BCR from the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxilary #2188.

Along with the show, the event is a fundraiser; there is a silent auction with goods generously donated by local businesses and a bake sale. Members from the Foothill Civitan Club donate their time to assist that evening as well as ladies from the Burbank Chapter of the National Charity League.

Burbank resident Debra Freedman attended for the first time this year and said with tears in her eyes “This was such a wonderful evening, I am so glad this organization is in my Community!” Just one more reason to be proud and thankful for our “Big, Little, Town of Burbank!”

Holiday Safety, Security, and Shopping Tips From Your Burbank Police Department

Release from the Burbank Police Department:

The Burbank Police would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. We would also like to remind you that crooks love the holidays as much as everyone else, because it’s an opportune time for crime.

Think about all of the homes jam-packed with glittering gifts. Stores, malls and city streets packed with unsuspecting shoppers. It’s enough to make a crook giddy with holiday joy.

Here are some tips on how to celebrate safely this holiday season:

WHEN SHOPPING:

• Stay alert and be aware of what’s going on around you.
• Park in a well-lit areas and please LOCK your vehicle. Close all windows, and hide shopping bags and gifts in the trunk. Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.
• Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Pay with a check or credit card if possible. When using credit cards, keep an eye on bank statements for any unauthorized charges.
• Deter pickpockets and purse-snatchers. Don’t overburden yourself with shopping bags and be extra careful with purses and wallets. Carry a purse close to your body, not dangling by the straps. Carry your wallet inside a coat or in your front pants pocket.
• If you are shopping with children, teach them to go to a store clerk or security guard if you get separated.

AT HOME:

• Criminals sometimes pose as couriers delivering gifts, so be cautious when accepting a package.
• NEVER open your door to anyone you don’t know or recognize.
• It’s not uncommon for people to take advantage of others’ generosity during the holidays by going door-to-door for charitable donations when there’s no charity involved. Ask for identification, and find out how the funds will be used. If you aren’t satisfied, don’t give. Instead, help a charitable organization you know and trust.
• If you’re leaving, turn on lights and a radio or TV so it looks like someone’s home.
• Always lock your doors and windows when you leave, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
• Don’t display gifts where they can be seen from outside.
• After you’ve opened gifts, be cautious when throwing away boxes and packaging from expensive items in curbside trash cans. Consider breaking down the boxes and storing them for disposal in the future, after the holidays.

HOLIDAY PACKAGE THEFT:

• Track deliveries online and confirm delivery has occurred. When available, sign up for email notifications to track your packages.
• If you know a family member or neighbor will be home, ask them to pick up the packages as soon as they are delivered.
• If possible, switch the delivery location to work or a local delivery locker where it can be received by someone and not left on the porch.
• Require a signature at delivery, especially for valuable items.

IF TRAVELING:

• Put lights on an automatic timer.
• Ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your home.
• If you’ll be gone for more than a few days, have mail and newspaper delivery stopped. If it piles up, it’s a sure sign you’re gone.

CELEBRATE RESPONSIBLY:

The holiday season is a time of celebration. Drinking and driving is a danger to everyone on the road and remember, DUI doesn’t just mean booze. Drug influence is just as dangerous when driving. If you choose to drink alcohol, don’t drive. Take a cab, use public transportation, or a designated driver. The Burbank Police Department will increase DUI enforcement and saturation patrols over the holiday period.

Finally, enjoy the holidays by spending time with family, friends, and loved ones. Take time to think about the spirit of the season and consider helping someone who’s less fortunate.

Happy Holidays!

Tis the Season for Black Angus’ Winter Special Meal to Give Back!

It is Christmastime and the spirit of giving is among us. Black Angus Steakhouse is doing just that with an item on their Holiday menu. For every order of Braised Short Ribs served between now and January 15, 2018, they will donate a dollar to No Kid Hungry.

That is enough of a reason to order the dish, but the taste is a reward in itself. The melt in your mouth tender beef ribs that slide off of the bone is braised in a Cabernet Sauvignon wine sauce and topped with chopped parsley, garlic & lemon zest. The mouthwatering beef is the cherry on top of on creamy mashed potatoes that cover your tongue with happiness and a sidekick of your choice. I always go for their roasted Brussels sprouts that will make even the most finicky kid ask for more. Not your style, then there are 18 other side dishes to choose from and not one of them will leave you unsatisfied.

Need a little drink to go with your meal, then they have 3 thirst quenchers for the season. First, there is the nonalcoholic the cranberry-blueberry seltzer. A refreshing combination of carbonated soda with a splash of cranberry juice, blueberry, and fresh lemon. This will make everything taste better as it awakens your taste buds. Want something with a little more kick, there are two alcoholic drinks to get yours through the season. The orange pomegranate sparkler is like a sparkler going off in your mouth. The drink is a mixed with ice-cold Stolichnaya Vodka, orange, pomegranate and lemon juices with some bubbly champagne and cranberries on top. The combination is joy in a glass. As is the Mionetto Prosecco, the delightful bubbles with a golden apple & peach aroma will leave you with a smile on your face.

But the biggest smile on your face comes at the end of the meal with their white chocolate cheesecake. You might not think that you have enough room in your belly for this white Christmas on a plate dessert, but there is. Each bite transports you to your happy place like waking up on Christmas morning to lots of gifts under the tree. What I found even more interesting is how they actually made the three delicious drinks even more scrumptious. I never had a drink taste even better because of a dessert, but this one somehow manages to do that. You can say it is a Christmas miracle.

What is also a Christmas miracle are those Braised Short Ribs. I have had a lot of rib dishes in my life, including when I lived in Atlanta, and none even compare to them. They are the best ribs I have ever had in my life; I wanted another serving after my first bite. Unfortunately, it was just my stomach that held me back for doing just that.
