Four auto burglaries were reported on Wednesday, March 5, and may possibly be connected because of possible time frame and proximity in location, according to police.
A yellow diaper bag was taken from a white 2013 Dodge van parked on the 1300 block of Oak St., sometime between 6:00 p.m., March 4, and 6:00 a.m., March 5. The entry to the vehicle was unknown, but not forced, and the victim discovered the vehicle’s front door ajar in the morning.
Sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a purse was stolen from a 2010 gray Hyundai parked on the 200 block of S. Reese Place. Another person found the purse laying on the street, said Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department.
When police followed up with the owner of the purse, it was discovered her car had been entered and the purse taken. The only reported loss from the purse was $20 cash. The car was possibly unlocked because no forcible entry had been made.
Between 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, miscellaneous keys and a school i.d. card was taken from an unlocked 2006 Toyota Highlander parked on the 300 block of S. Griffith Park Drive.
A 2010 gray Toyota Corolla parked on the 900 block of N. Mariposa St. was left unlocked overnight and a purse was taken sometime between the hours of 9:00 p.m., March 4, and 7:00 a.m., March 5. The contents of the purse included $85 in cash and identification, social security and medical cards.
“It appears all four vehicles were unlocked and no force was used,” commented Ryburn. “It also appears that these burglaries may have been carried out by the same suspects.”
“Even if your car is parked in your driveway, you need to lock it overnight,” he added.
