Police Find Out Why Woman Was Screaming In Park

Responding to a complaint of a woman screaming in Izay Park at night, police officers and a clinical psychologist went to the park during daylight hours Thursday, to locate a woman who frequents the park.  The woman admitted to being the one screaming at night.

The 51 year-old woman informed them that there had been a man following her around the park at night, and the only way she could get him to leave her alone was to scream. She said the man had exposed himself to her several times in the past, and that she was afraid of him.

On the previous night, according to the woman, the man had dropped his pants, exposing himself to her and was rubbing his genitals while making sexual comments.  She said it was her screams that people heard.  However, she did not contact police at the time. Her assailant was described as a White man, 50-60 years old, wearing a baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt.

The officers conducted a check of the park area and located the suspect, Dwight Lindbloom, 62, a transient.   The victim placed Lindbloom under citizen’s arrest, and he was taken to the Burbank Jail where he was booked for indecent exposure and giving false identification to a police officers.  His bail was set at $10,000.

Drunken Man Holds Police At Bay On Olive Ave.

A drunken, possibly mentally ill man forced his way into an woman’s apartment late Sunday night and refused to come out for over an hour after police surrounded the building.

The incident began around 11:25 p.m. Sunday, when Burbank Police received a report that a woman had run out of her apartment at 1914 W. Olive Ave., because a man had forced his way inside.  Officers responded code 3, and quickly surrounded the apartment building that is located behind businesses on Olive Ave. Initial reports were that a child might still be in the apartment.  However that report was false.

Police were able to determine that the suspect and the woman knew each other. The woman told police she hadn’t seen the man in a long time. He had come to her apartment earlier in the day, and had been drinking alcohol and acting strangely. He appeared to be distraught over an ex-girlfriend.  The woman had asked him to leave her apartment, but he refused.  Eventually, he went outside and she locked him out.  He returned later and forced his way inside.

When the man refused police orders to come out of the apartment, an hour-long stand-off began.  Officers were able to establish a dialogue with then man, and determined that he appeared to be extremely intoxicated.  Reportedly, he made irrational and incoherent statements during the stand-off.  The man eventually came out of the apartment and was taken into custody without the use of force.

Because of his level of intoxication, mental state, and statements he made regarding having taken prescription drugs, he was evaluated by Burbank Fire Department paramedics, and transported to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.  He was admitted to the hospital and a 72-hour mental health evaluation.

The case is being turned over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed against the unidentified man.
Traffic Stop Turns Up Drugs And Identity Theft Items

A Burbank Police Officer on patrol stopped a Honda Accord  after observing several vehicle code violations Sunday at 9:40 p.m. at Victory Blvd. and Buena Vista St.  The “routine” traffic stop turned up evidence that sent the driver and her passenger to jail for multiple felonies.

According to police, the driver of the car, Mary Loneelk, 31, of West Hills, displayed symptoms of being under the influence of drugs.  She is on probations and her passenger, John Durso, 23, of Chatsworth, is on parole for possession of narcotics.  A search of the car turned up suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and identity theft items. Police found checks, credit card statements, band statements, mail, and other items for seven individuals from various parts of the San Fernando Valley in the trunk of the car and in Loneelk’s purse.

Loneelk and Durso were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of identity theft information. They were booked into the Burbank Jail, with Loneelk’s bail set at $50,000.  Durso is being held on a no bail parole hold.

The Big Party That Wasn’t

What at first appeared to be a “wild” party turned out to be a very well-organized and calm affair that just lacked the proper permits.

Burbank Police Officers on routine patrol noticed a large number of people parking in the area of Victory Blvd. and Chestnut St. shortly after midnight on Sunday morning.  After investigating, they found that it was an album release party for DJ Harvey that was taking place at 1001 Chestnut St.  About 300 people were in attendance.

After contacting the promoter and location manager, police determined the promoter had rented the location, hired security guards, and purchased an insurance policy for the event.  A cover charge was being collected and alcohol was being served.  They just forgot to get the proper permits from the City of Burbank.

According to police, the promoter and location manager, not wanting to violate any City ordinances,  cooperated fully and agreed to shut the party down. The crowd left the area in an orderly manner, and police reported no problems.

Robber Grabs Woman’s Necklace At Mall

A would-be robber grabbed a woman’s necklace as she entered the Burbank Town Center mall.  The victim, a 23 year-old North Hollywood woman and her friend were entering the mall on Magnolia Blvd. at San Fernando Blvd., when the suspect opened the door for them to enter.  As they passed by, the man grabbed the woman’s necklace and unsuccessfully attempted to pull it off her neck.

The suspect, who is described at a man with a full beard, about 35-40 years old, and wearing a green shirt, fled on foot up Magnolia Blvd. The woman contacted mall security, who then called the Burbank Police Department.  The woman was able to recover her broken necklace after the suspect fled.  Police were unable to located the suspect.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or has information about the suspect, is urged to call the Burbank Police Department at 818-238-3000

Methamphetamine Suspects Turn Over Drugs To Police

Burbank Police made two rather unusual arrests for possession of methamphetamine, after the suspects in each case voluntarily handed the drugs over to officers.

In the first incident, officers went to a home in the 1000 block of E. Olive Ave., around 6 p.m. on July 5, after a woman called to report a disturbance.  She told officers that she had taken a lighter away from a man, who was now demanding it back and looking at her oddly.  They contacted the man, and asked him to come out of a bedroom.  When he came out, he handed the officers a baggie filled with suspected methamphetamine.  They also saw, in plain view, more methamphetamine on a counter top next to a credit card.  The man, Frank Donatelli, 37, of Burbank, was placed under arrest.

In the second incident, officers went to an apartment in the 400 block of Pass Ave. at 6:40 p.m. on July 6, regarding suspicious circumstances.  The suspect had called 911 and requested to speak to a priest to confess.  The man told officers that he had been using marijuana and methamphetamine for about a year.  He also said he had a baggie of methamphetamine in his apartment, and wanted the officers to get it.  He then escorted them into his apartment and pointed to a baggie on a table.  The suspect, Jonathan Patrick Killy, 32, of Burbank, was placed under arrest.
