Press release provided from Vahe Hovanessian campaign:

Hovanessian, Esq., established and trusted community leader, and parent of two is honored to announce that his campaign for the Burbank Board of Education has the support and endorsement of Burbank community leaders including Mayor Dr. David Gordon, current city councilmember Jess Talamantes, and former mayors Dave Golonski and Michael Hastings.

In addition to the four current Burbank Board of Education members endorsing Vahe including Larry Applebaum, Vice-President Charlene Tabet, Dave Kemp and Ted Bunch; Vahe is also endorsed by former Board of Education members including Audrey Hanson, Pete McGrath, Elena Hubbell and John Dilibert.

Vahe is also endorsed by Mary Alvord, Sue Georgino, Greg Jackson, Kevin Harrop, Barry Gussow, Ana Connell, Tim Conway, Jr., Linda Walmsley, Wendy Miller and many others.

Former Board of Education member Audrey Hanson states “Having been a board member for 12 years, I recognize that Vahe possesses the innate skills to immediately become an effective board member.”

“Vahe will be able to be immediately effective in protecting and advancing the quality of education in the Burbank Unified School District because of his background and previous experience in multiple positions in Burbank,” says former Board of Education Member Peter “Pete” McGrath.

Former Board of Education member Elena Hubbell states “Working with Vahe has given me real insight as to his knowledge, passion and interest in the district. I endorse Vahe.”

“As a parent of a 1st grader, I know that the stakes are high when it comes to the future of our children. I have the passion, education, experience, leadership and dedication needed to ensure our schools remain strong,” states Hovanessian, a lifelong Burbank resident and practicing attorney.

Teacher Linda Walmsley states “Vahe’s skills as an attorney and his broad based community involvement make him an ideal candidate for the Burbank Board of Education. He will be able to analyze issues with a focus on their validity and value to our children. He will use his experiences as a member of city boards and school district committees as a guide to establishing good working relationships with other board members and staff. He listens carefully to all sides of an issue and considers the importance of everything as it relates to positive impacts on the children of Burbank.”

Teacher Wendy Miller states: “I have known Vahe for 35 years since our days at Emerson, John Muir, and Burbank High. His integrity, work ethic, and leadership will be an asset to our schools. As an educator, I know Vahe represents what we need. ”

Among Hovanessian’s goals as a Board Member are: to incorporate 21st century learning styles into the curriculum; to work to maximize every education dollar to benefit students; to provide funding for the best educators the District can afford; and to have schools that are safe and well maintained.

“I will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, staff and fellow Board Members to ensure that every student is equipped to enter college or the work force,” says Hovanessian.
